Educational Programs

Because any period of time living on the street is extremely dangerous, AFCI has developed a parent education class What if your Child is Gay? to:

  • alleviate the problems that may contribute to the youth’s running away or being rejected
  • resolve intra-family problems due to orientation or gender
  • reunite such youth with their families, whenever appropriate
  • help families decide upon a future course of action

The class is designed to help parents make sense of the family
dynamics that occur when a child comes out as LGBTQ.
Topics include: the coming out experience, the science of sexual orientation, consequences of rejection and how to remain in a healthy relationship.

We are currently forming new connections and locations for our face to face classes.  If you are interested in a class, please contact us.
